OAK PARK COMMUNITY CENTER

Project Size:

Location:

Type:

We propose this project for a site in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park- a collection of buildings and park space that houses community resources and public recreation.  Our concept for a new community hub is to combine three basic pillars of a community's well-being - community gathering space, health and wellness, and idea development- into a public space in the center of the village.  Indoor and outdoor community spaces provide different settings and experiences for interaction between citizens of all ages.  Mental and physical wellness services are available for all in a safe, welcoming environment.  Vigorous business and idea development is a vital element in maintaining a successful and fulfilled public - great ideas, art, and services have a place to be tested in autonomous studios.  Intermingling these programs combines and anchors what makes a plurality of people a good community.
